Yeah, the prominence of the ALP Right is never a good sign, though I'm not entirely convinced she's courted them all that much. She's been supportive of a lot of the policies Kev had that I have problems with, but given the kind of close-hold ship Kev's been running of late, I'm (perhaps naively, I admit) somewhat hopeful that she was simply doing her job and shilling agreed/decided policy outside the Cabinet room.

Honestly, I'm at the point where I'm sick of the whole "OMG FACELESS POWERBROKERS" meme. It's like everyone's pretending Kevin and the rest of the ALP caucus are, like, whimpering toddlers or something. IDK.

I know I've spent much of the last few days sounding like I think she's the saviour of the left or whatever; I don't, being honest. I think it's reacting in frustration to the backlash, and I'm trying to remind myself to take a step back probably today or tomorrow and talk more about my concerns a bit more.

I dunno. I think stepping back is good cos I think I'm just babbling at this point. /o\

About Jen

A 20-something fat, queer woman of colour living in Australia.

Reading: Fond of speculative and YA fiction, social justice theory in various forms. Would love to see more rounded fat/queer/female/of colour (and multiples of the above) characters in fiction.

Writing: Sometimes blogs at Hoyden About Town, dabbles in fiction now and then, hoping to find her creativity again.

Watching: Fond of sci-fi/fantasy television, with a strange weakness for cop shows. Would love to see more rounded fat/queer/female/of colour (and multiples of the above) characters on television.
